Day Hike To Mt. Longonot

Overview:

Mount Longonot is a stratovolcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. It is about 75kms from Nairobi and about 2hrs drive away. Its name is derived from the Maasai word Oloonong’ot, meaning “mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges”

Itinerary:

  • We depart Nairobi at 7:00am; the journey takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes
  • On arrival at Mt. Longonot National Park, we start the hike up the mountain
  • Reach the Mt Longonot crater rim and go around the crater.
  • Descend to the base and depart for lake Naivasha.
  • Enjoy a lunch at the fisherman camp or similar
  • Depart for Nairobi
  • Drop off in town or hotel. End of Mt Longonot national park Tour.

Notes: Carry enough drinking water. Make sure you bring reusable bottles because disposable plastic bottles aren’t allowed in the park.
