Overview:
This safari will take you from Nairobi to Meru National Park, Samburu Game Reserve in Kenya’s Northern Frontier District, then to the Ol Pejeta conservancy and back to Nairobi. The safari can be booked privately or by a group and can be tailored to accommodate your budget (luxury or budget) and your preferences.
During this safari, you will enjoy the quiet of the magnificent Meru National Park before proceeding to the wild and rugged Samburu which is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Ewaso Ng’iro River, and later exploring The Ol Pejeta Conservancy which is a 360 km2 (140 sq. mi) not-for-profit wildlife conservancy in Central Kenya’s Laikipia County. The Conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. It also houses the two remaining northern white rhinos in the world
We will pick you from the airport or at your hotel in Nairobi at 7am and drive to the Meru National park. On arrival, we will have lunch followed by afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at camp.
After breakfast we will start our game drive. You will spend the day viewing game in the Park which is quiet and silent since there is no congestion. Meru National park is famous for its lions. It is also where you can find the largest herd of buffalo in Kenya and of course the best place to find rhinos. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
After breakfast, we will depart for Samburu through changing landscapes to the rugged-semi arid region which though harsh, has unique species like the unusual reticulated giraffe, Gravy’s zebra, Beisa, Oryx, Gerenuk and the Somali Ostrich.
Arrive at Samburu Game reserve, check in at the lodge and proceed for lunch.
Later, we will head-out for another adventurous game drive at the park where you will spot some notable animals like antelopes, gerenuk, elephants, buffaloes among other animals. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Game Lodge or similar.
Full day at Samburu including morning and afternoon game drives. Rest of the day at leisure. You may just want to relax by the pool or perhaps book an added activity such as a nature walk, cultural visit within the area or a relaxing massage depending on accommodation booked (extra activities at an additional cost).
Dinner and overnight at Samburu Game Lodge or similar.
After a leisurely breakfast, check out and depart for the Olpejeta conservancy.
Upon arrival, you will be served lunch and then visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. This safe haven for Chimpanzees was established by the famed naturalist Jane Goodall in 1993. The work of the sanctuary is to provide a home for chimpanzees who have spent their lives in captivity; you can learn about their work and the journey of the animals on your visit.
Afterwards, dinner and overnight at your accommodation.
After breakfast, you will start your first game drive through the wildlife park. Your expert safari guide will help you to spot and identify the myriad of animals you will encounter. The chances of seeing the animals of your dreams are high: Ol Pejeta has the highest density of wild animals per square kilometre out of any parks across Kenya.
Lunch will be served and you will return to the park for a second game drive, ready to spend the day surrounded by nature. A visit to the watering hole will afford you opportunity to view mega fauna in their natural habitat: feeding, bathing, and playing with their young.
Afterwards, dinner and overnight at your accommodation.
Enjoy your breakfast at the camp; thereafter we will depart for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. Lunch on own arrangements thereafter transfers to the Airport or hotel within Nairobi. This will mark the end of the tour.
